The Arctic Melt: Earth Day
The Arctic is melting faster than any other place on Earth. By the end of this century, it is predicted that the ocean will rise eight feet causing the displacement of millions of people throughout the Earth. Ocean rise will be due to three factors: the melting of mountain glaciers, the thermal expansion of the ocean, and the melting of the Greenland Ice Sheet. A Moment of Magic: New York Yankee's First Pitch
A Moment of Magic founders, Kylee McGrane and Margaret McAndrew, created a program where college-aged students are able to volunteer their time at children's hospitals by dressing up as world-renowned princesses. During a September game, The New York Yankees welcomed Avery and Bella, two pediatric cancer survivors, to throw out the first pitch. -
ASCAP FOUNDATION: Children Will Listen (Pasek and Paul)
ASCAP Foundation is a charitable organization supported by contributions from ASCAP members and music fans throughout the United States. As part of their Children Will Listen program, middle school students from Ron Brown Academy MS 57 in Brooklyn got the chance to see six-time Tony award winner - Dear Evan Hansen. In honor of one of musical theatre’s greatest and a longtime ASCAP member, Stephen Sondheim, this program began back in 2005 to bring the theatre experience to young students. The drama students also got the chance to meet the men behind the music, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. -
ACDS (Westchester, New York)
ACDS at Scarsdale, NY commits to serving children and adults with Down Syndrome, autism, and other developmental disabilities. In just over a year's time, this Westchester school with have up to 11 classrooms available where around 120 students will be welcomed. ACDS continues to be a great support system for not only their students but their families as well.
