Did  you know apples are members of the rose family?  Major productions of apples are occurred in China and the United States of America. There are about 8000 different kinds of apples, a rich in antioxidants and some of the easier fruits to snatch from a tree. Now, this happens to be the perfect season to go picking for some of these delicious delights. The apples vary in sizes and have their unique tastes. However, Crab Apple is the only one native to North America.

Here are some of the facts about apples and why you should be the one picking apples from a few these great venues.

1). Apples contain 0 grams of fat or sodium and have no Cholesterol. That fact can take us right to – Stuart’s fruit farm, a family run farm since 1828. It is located in granite springs, NY (Westchester County).

2). It takes about 36 apples to create one gallon of apple cider. Now, to making this fact a reality and test it yourself. I would suggest going to Wightman’s Farm, a family tradition since 1922. They have family-friendly fun events at the venue like Corn mazes, pumpkin slingshots, hayrides etc.

This place is located in Morristown, NJ, which is one-hour car ride west of NYC.

Here is a link on how you can make the apples into apple-cider in just a few easy steps.

3). In China, the word for apples is pronounced “ping” which also, means peace. With that being said, Let’s spread some peace by taking a drive to Hank’s Pumpkin town. The trip to this venue from NYC is about 93 mi, 3 hours drive, located in watermill, eastern long island, NY and it comes with a good quality time with your loved ones or if your going on an epic first date with your potential other. Hank’s Pumpkin town offers corn mazes, cow milking, pumpkin picking etc.

4). Biting and chewing an apple stimulates the production of saliva in your mouth, reducing tooth decay by lowering the levels of bacteria. In that case we should totally visit “Masker Orchards” which celebrates 101 years in the Apple picking business. They are open 7 days a week and also have a country store where you can purchase apple butter, fresh jams, honey etc. It is located at 45 Ball Road, Warwick, NY 10990, which is about 57miles and a car ride for 1hr and 37mins from NYC.

5). The soluble fiber found in apples binds with fats in the intestine, which translates into lower cholesterol levels and a healthier you. The fact about healthier you should encourage us to go to “Harbes family farm and orchard”. They have apple picking, pumpkin picking, Robin Hood corn maze, moonlight maze and to top it all they even

have a Honey crisp café. Harbes is located in Riverhead, NY which happens to be 87 miles from NYC and a car ride of about 2hrs.
